Melissa Kucinski is the owner of MK Family Law, a boutique family law firm in Washington, D.C.  She is an adjunct law professor at the George Washington University School of Law, teaching International Family Law. 

In 2013, she consulted for the Hague Conference on Private International Law on the 1980 Hague Abduction and 1996 Hague Child Protection Conventions.  Melissa also serves as a member of the U.S. Department of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law and a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.  She chaired a task force within the American Bar Association that designed and offered the only U.S. international family mediator training to date.  She has also trained mediators in Tokyo to mediate cases under the 1980 Convention.   

Melissa was designated among the Best Lawyers of America by her peers for 2018.  She has received awards from the American Bar Association for her dedication to projects that help educate lawyers in the field of international and cross-jurisdictional family law.  Melissa is also a trained mediator, collaborative lawyer, and child’s counsel.
